Thomas Jones, woodcarver and maker of fine furniture lives in Kessingland, Suffolk. He originally trained as a traditional boatbuilder, but has branched out into wildlife carving and creating stunning one-off pieces of feature furniture. He uses sustainably sourced English hardwoods, most of which comes from Suffolk. He carefully selects wood for the beauty and unique quality of the grain, often using burr oak and elm. He has created many specially commissioned pieces over the years, and is happy to consider future commissions for furniture or carving.
The workshop is now based at Sotterly in Suffolk. This move has given him the oppertunity to buy logs straight from the Sotterley estate. A hollow ash tree has thrown up some interesting possibilities and challenges.
